Smoky Blue Cheese Hot Wings
Crispy chicken wings coated in a smoky, spicy molasses glaze, perfectly paired with chilled blue cheese dressing for the ultimate flavor kick.
Ingredients
- 30 pieces chicken wings, cut apart at joints, wing tips discarded
- 2 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- 1 cup Louisiana-style hot sauce
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon liquid mesquite smoke flavoring
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups prepared blue cheese dressing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with the cayenne pepper and seasoned salt until evenly coated.
- Arrange the wings on the wire rack in a single layer. Bake for 35 minutes, turning halfway through, until crispy and cooked through.
- Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine hot sauce, molasses, and mesquite smoke flavoring. Stir in chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic.
- Simmer the sauce for 8-10 minutes until vegetables soften and sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
- When the wings are done, toss them gently in the warm smoky hot sauce mixture until fully coated.
- Serve hot wings with chilled blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.
