Ingredients

  • 30 pieces chicken wings, cut apart at joints, wing tips discarded
  • 2 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1 cup Louisiana-style hot sauce
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon liquid mesquite smoke flavoring
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups prepared blue cheese dressing

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  • In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with the cayenne pepper and seasoned salt until evenly coated.
  • Arrange the wings on the wire rack in a single layer. Bake for 35 minutes, turning halfway through, until crispy and cooked through.
  • Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine hot sauce, molasses, and mesquite smoke flavoring. Stir in chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic.
  • Simmer the sauce for 8-10 minutes until vegetables soften and sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
  • When the wings are done, toss them gently in the warm smoky hot sauce mixture until fully coated.
  • Serve hot wings with chilled blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.
