Ann's Sister's Classic Meatloaf

A comforting and flavorful meatloaf made with lean ground beef, seasoned with onion soup mix and a tangy tomato sauce glaze topped with crispy bacon.

Ingredients
  

lean ground beef

    eggs

      dry bread crumbs

        ketchup

          monosodium glutamate (MSG)

            warm water

              dry onion soup mix

                bacon

                  tomato sauce

                    Instructions
                     

                    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
                    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, eggs, dry bread crumbs, ketchup, MSG, warm water, and dry onion soup mix.
                    • Mix ingredients gently with your hands or a spoon until well combined but not overworked.
                    • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish or loaf pan.
                    • Pour tomato sauce evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
                    • Lay the bacon slices on top of the tomato sauce for a flavorful crust.
                    • Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
                    • Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
